With 707 horsepower and a 10.8-second quarter-mile time, the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is the most powerful muscle car on the market. Dodge refers to it as a true GT car - a car capable of 10-second times at the drag strip, but also able to take you on a cross-country drive with your family. The key to the Challenger SRT Hellcat's astonishing speed is under the hood - a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V-8 engine. This 707-horsepower engine is the most powerful Chrysler Group V-8 ever, and has been finely engineered to ensure performance and reliability. The Hellcat V-8 boasts a forged-steel crankshaft capable of withstanding 110 bar (1,595 PSI) firing pressure, a specially tuned crank damper tested to 13,000 RPM, induction-hardened bearing surfaces, forged-alloy pistons, high-load-capacity bushings, and diamond-like carbon-coated piston pins. Dodge understands that sheer horsepower isn't enough to make a world-class car, so other elements of the Challenger SRT Hellcat have seen similarly high levels of engineering. Power is delivered from the engine to the rear axle via a six-speed manual transmission, or a first-in-class eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, and from the axle to the ground through 20" lightweight forged-aluminum wheels. When it's time to stop, 15.4" Brembo six-piston front brakes are up to the job. The Challenger SRT Hellcat also comes equipped with electronic features to help keep all that power under control: In addition to a suite of stability and safety features, the Hellcat comes with two key fobs to let the owner control their car's performance (the red one enables full power, the black one limits the Hellcat to a mere 500 horsepower), Dodge's new Drive Modes feature to allow customization of engine, transmission, tire, and chassis performance, and a "Valet Mode" which allows the driver to significantly reduce the engine's performance and lock out the paddle shifters, Drive Modes, and launch control.

Summer is here and it's the perfect time of year to take a road trip. There are so many cool places to go and things to see that can add some special moments to your trip if you choose to drive instead of fly. Before taking a road trip, it's always wise to perform some safety checks on your car. Nothing can spoil a road trip like an unforeseen complication that could have potentially been avoided. Here are 5 easy car safety checks that everyone should do before taking a road trip. 1. Check your fluid levels. The most important fluid to check is your engine oil. It's basically the lifeblood of your engine and is quite easy to check. Under the hood of the car you will find a small dipstick on your engine that should be marked "Oil". To check your oil, make sure you car is cooled off and parked on a level surface. Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean with a paper towel, put it back in and pull right back out. There is a mark near the end of the dipstick that will show the high and low markings - if it's low, you should bring it in for an oil change or service before taking your trip. Under the hood you will also see some clear containers with different colored fluids - this would include your power steering fluid, brake fluid, and possibly clutch fluid if it's a manual transmission. The containers will have a high and low line on them as well to see where the fluid levels are. You may also want to check your windshield wiper fluid while you're in there. 2. Check the weight load capacity on your car. Inside the door jam of your car, you'll find a few stickers. One of them lists the maximum load capacity for your vehicle - which includes both passengers and cargo. It is important to not overload your vehicle because you could potentially damage your suspension or drive-train not to mention you may also decrease your gas mileage. 3. Check the air pressure in your tires and the tread level. While looking at the stickers on the inside of your door jam, you will also see mention of the recommended tire inflation pressure. You can check the air pressure in your tires using an air pressure gauge and many of the gas station air compressors have these built into them. Making sure you have the correct tire air pressure not only can ensure better gas mileage but you and your passenger's safety. A penny is a great way to measure the tread depth on your tires. If you use a penny, line up the Lincoln Memorial on the back with your tread. If the top of the Memorial is hidden, you have more than enough tread for a long road trip. If you turn the penny around and can see the top of Lincoln's head, you need new tires before taking your trip. 4. Check that you have a spare tire and that it has air in it. Open your trunk and make sure you have a spare tire. It's important to check that it's properly inflated because a flat spare tire is useless and dangerous. You also want to make sure you have the tools available to change your tire like a jack and a lug nut wrench. A flashlight would also be helpful as well as other emergency equipment like a first aid kit. 5. Check the outside of your vehicle - lights, wipers, and windows. It's just as important to check the outside of your vehicle as it is the inside of it. Make sure all lights are working. Check your wiper blades to ensure they're not worn as this could pose a safety hazard during rain. Lastly, check your windows to make sure they're clean to ensure you can see clearly. These 5 easy safety checks can help to ensure a safe road trip. All of these checks are things you can do yourself, but always read your owner's manual and if you have any questions or concerns bring your car in for service. Chrysler Group - and Dodge in particular - received high marks in J.D. Power's 2014 Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) Study. Intended to measure how gratifying a new vehicle is to own, this study surveys owners 90 days after the purchase of their new vehicle. Customer evaluations of 77 different vehicle attributes are used to establish which vehicles provide the most positive ownership experiences. Dodge's performance in this year's APEAL Study was impressive - the Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, and Dodge Dart were all found to lead their classes in customer satisfaction. (Classes were Large Car, Midsize Sporty Car, and Compact Car, respectively.) Additional Chrysler Group vehicles which placed within the top three for their category: Jeep Cherokee (3rd in Compact SUV), Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango (2nd and 3rd in Midsize SUV), Fiat 500L (3rd in Compact MPV), and Ram 2500/3500 (tied for 2nd in Large Heavy Duty Pickup).

Preparing an Emergency car kit: Winter Edition One thing that worries me and thousands of others during the winter months is to become stranded. Warmer climate areas always tend to think that they may never need snow tires or to be prepared for any winter weather at all and this is never a good way to think. My prime example is Alabama in January 2014 hundreds of motorists were stranded on I-20 for two days or more because of Winter weather. The national guard was called into the state but not all of the motorists were reachable - I know of no deaths however I'm sure there were several victims of frostbite , dehydration and other known issues that were caused from being stranded. All of which could have been prevented if they had been properly prepared for an event such as that one. Here are the top 5 Essentials that we feel should be in your vehicle during the winter months to help be prepared in case you're to become stranded in freezing temperatures. 1. Map - Most people would not think of this because with today's technology we all tend to use our GPS as most cell phones have them built in it is definitely easier to obtain than before. You should always keep a good ol' classic paper map in your vehicle. Most will fit right under your seat or behind if it has built in pockets. The purpose of this is that yes a GPS may be made available but it is still operated on batteries. If those battery are to die and you have no clue where you are the paper map will be able to help you. 2. Blankets , Extra clothing - One thing that you have to worry about during the winter months is the cold weather. Keeping warm is definitely a need greater than most. We suggest heavy blankets such as wool or thermal so that the heat from your body will hold in the blanket and not escape. 3. Water, Food - Having food and water is important because you could be stranded for a few days or even weeks depending on the circumstances. Just remember that an average person can go up to three weeks without food and only one week without water. Personally I keep two 2 liter bottles in my van at all times. 4. Winter tools - Every car should have a basic necessities kit already in place which should include items such as Flashlights, Flares, Jumper cables etc.. For the Winter months a few items you may want to add are: - Deicer - Compact Snow Shovel - Hand Warmers - Snow Chains and any other items you think you may need. 5. Have a plan- Being prepared for almost every situation will ensure that you will have a better chance of surviving without harm if you were to become stranded. One way that can help not only you but ANYONE that drives your vehicle is to have a printed out plan or instructions - You can leave this in your glove box so that other drivers may have it and know about the kit in the back. Introduction The FIAT Chrysler Automobiles Transmission Plant I (ITPI) in Kokomo, Indiana has workers that have gotten themselves on a safe streak. As of April 1st, employees had logged ten million hours without a lost-time injury or illness due to work, and this happened in just over three years. Few manufacturing places can have this "claim to fame," so this is an achievement that many employees are proud of. How It Was Done What may have helped everyone get this far is following a method implemented by "World Class Manufacturing (WCM)." WCM makes safety rules essential to follow. Through working with WCM since the second half of last decade, the ITPI identified 5,000 different ways to make the workplace safer for every employee by bettering equipment and peoples' behavior. An example of a change made was adding "dry floor guarding" to machines to prevent fluids from escaping. If these fluids can't get out, then people won't slip on them. Employees make safety rules very important regulations to abide by, as enforced by management. Senior employees have also helped out when it came to new people starting. People have a history of speaking up about things that could injure them while on the job. Training at FCA has also become better recently. Brian Harlow, Vice President of FCA United States, indicated that hitting that milestone has not been done before. He said, at a special employee meeting, that all employees made a joint effort to get to this point. An Excellent Working Environment Through changes that have occurred, employees have become more productive. Jeremy Keating, Manager of the ITPI, believes this is important so employees can get through each workday safely. Keating also indicated that other FCA plants are taking after what the ITPI did to better ensure everyone's safety in automobile manufacturing. The building is, overall, now a more ergonomically-friendly place for everyone. More About the FCA Indiana Transmission Plant I (ITPI) Aside from its' commitment to safety, this FCA plant has put more than 500,000 nine-speed automatic transmissions in vehicles since May 2013, and was the first facility to build the transmissions. The facility also builds the six-speed automatic transmission, and has 2,700 employees, and began making automobiles in 1998. Generations of workers have come through FCA U.S, headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan. FCA is the seventh-largest automobile manufacturer in the world due to how many vehicles it sells per year.

Keep your eyes open for a new Chrysler 300 ad. Have you seen "Game of Thrones"? Well, Peter Dinklage, an actor from the show, has narrated a Chrysler 300 ad. The ad started airing on April 9th, and is 60 seconds in length. The ad is titled "The Kings & Queens of America." It is available for viewing on Youtube. The ad illustrates a world where anybody can be a king or queen--it doesn't have to come from family blood. The purpose of the ad is to celebrate people who don't give up in reaching their goals while simultaneously advertising the Chrysler 300. Olivier Francois, the global Chief Marketing Officer of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, said that "Our latest homage to the relentless and proud is 'The Kings and Queens of America,' where we recognize nobility not as a birthright but an earned designation." Francois also said that he would like to celebrate those "who refuse to give up, dedicate themselves to a craft and have the guts to turn dreams into reality." The ad ends with a picture of the Chrysler's wing badge and an advertisement for the 2015 Chrysler 300, which is seen driven by people throughout the commercial. This ad is part of Chrysler's "Drive Proud" campaign, which celebrates people who work hard for their titles, but also to advertise the Chrysler brand. Chrysler has teamed up with Wieden+Kennedy Portland, an advertising agency, to run the campaign. Chrysler is planning on showing off the Chrysler 300's 363 horsepower and great all wheel drive technology through this campaign series. This campaign will run through June, and commercials will not be the only way it will be noticed; expect online and perhaps magazine articles, too. The Chrysler 300 is a four-door sedan that stands out with its' great build and is a luxurious vehicle offering 31 mpg highway. You will ride quietly in this vehicle, and be satisfied with the available V8 power and technology. The standard V6 engine, is great if you're traveling to any snowy areas. It has available all-wheel drive and a standard eight-speed automatic transmission. Both the front and rear styling have been revised throughout the 300's time.
