Which Engines Are Available on Each 2027 Ram 1500 Trim?

The 2027 Ram 1500 offers seven engines, and the 5.7L HEMI V8 is back on select trims. Engine choice is tied to trim: the High-Output Hurricane and the supercharged 6.2L HEMI are offered only on 4x4 performance and premium models, and the 5.7L HEMI comes with or without eTorque mild-hybrid assist depending on configuration.

Core Trims: Tradesman, Express, Big Horn and Laramie

Tradesman

The Tradesman is the work-truck foundation of the lineup. It comes standard with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 eTorque, with the 3.0L Hurricane SO and 5.7L HEMI V8 available. Standard equipment on current Tradesman builds includes a Uconnect 5 system with an 8.4-inch display and six speakers, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED headlamps, push-button start with key-fob remote start, and Class IV towing equipment with a hitch and trailer sway control. Driver-assist features on those builds include Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keep Assist and Forward Collision Warning. New for 2027, the Tradesman wears a Satin Black Symbol of Protest fender badge.

Express and Black Express

Express and Black Express sit just above the Tradesman as appearance-focused value trims and share its engine choices: the 3.6L V6, 3.0L Hurricane SO and 5.7L HEMI V8. For 2027, the Black Express also wears the new Satin Black Symbol of Protest badge.

Big Horn / Lone Star

The Big Horn, sold as the Lone Star in Texas, adds chrome bumpers and aluminum wheels over the Tradesman while keeping the 8.4-inch Uconnect 5 display. The Big Horn Level 2 Equipment Group steps up to a 12-inch Uconnect 5 Nav touchscreen, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats and steering wheel, a wireless charging pad, nine amplified speakers with a subwoofer and 20-inch wheels, and for 2027 it adds passive entry on Crew Cab models. A Night Edition Package adds blacked-out exterior styling.

Laramie

The Laramie opens the leather-lined part of the lineup with heated and ventilated leather front seats and a 12-inch Uconnect Nav system. For 2027, rain-sensing wipers become standard, and the 360-degree surround-view camera is newly available through the Laramie Level 1 Equipment Group. Laramie offers the 3.0L Hurricane SO or the 5.7L HEMI V8.

Off-Road Trims: Warlock, BackCountry, Rebel, RHO and TRX SRT

Warlock and BackCountry

Warlock is Ram’s value entry into off-roading, with 33-inch tires, a 1-inch raised ride height and front and rear Bilstein performance-tuned shocks. New for 2027, Warlock is offered with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 eTorque as a lower-cost path into Ram’s off-road family, with the Hurricane SO and 5.7L HEMI also available. BackCountry joins Warlock in Ram’s 2027 off-road family.

Rebel

The Rebel pairs 33-inch tires, a 1-inch lift and Bilstein shocks with a standard electronic locking rear differential and skid plates. It offers the 3.0L Hurricane SO or the 5.7L HEMI V8, and the 360-degree camera is newly available through the Rebel Level 1 Equipment Group.

RHO

RHO is built around the 540-hp, 521 lb-ft High-Output 3.0L Hurricane, with factory Bilstein shocks and nine performance-tuned drive modes. The 360-degree camera is standard for 2027, a new Popular Equipment Group bundles the 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen and 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio, and Hands-Free Active Driving Assist is available.

TRX SRT

The TRX returns for 2027 wearing an SRT badge. Its supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 makes 777 hp and 680 lb-ft, and it starts at $102,790 MSRP. It’s rated to tow up to 8,100 pounds and includes Hands-Free Active Driving Assist, dual wireless charging pads and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system as standard.

Premium Trims: Limited, Longhorn and Tungsten

Limited and Longhorn

Limited and Longhorn share their hardware but differ in design: Limited takes a modern luxury approach, while Longhorn leans into Western-inspired materials. Both offer the 540-hp Hurricane HO or the 5.7L HEMI V8. Four-corner air suspension is standard, the 360-degree surround-view camera is standard for 2027, and a new RamBox delete option frees up maximum bed width.

Tungsten

Ram calls the Tungsten the most luxurious pickup truck in its class. It pairs the Hurricane HO with a 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, a 10.25-inch front passenger display, a 23-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system, 24-way power front seats with heat, ventilation and massage, and a standard 360-degree surround-view camera.

Rumble Bee Muscle Trucks

New for 2027, Rumble Bee is its own muscle-truck family with four variants: Rumble Bee, Rumble Bee 392, Rumble Bee 392 Track Pack and Rumble Bee SRT. They are powered by three HEMI V8s, the 5.7L, the 6.4L and the 777-hp supercharged 6.2L, and ride on a new widebody Quad Cab with a 5-foot-7-inch bed.
